I’ve been in heaven today as I browsed many new sites that have really cool card ideas. My daughters and I are hosting a bridal shower for a friend of ours and I wanted to make a unique invitation. Sooooo….I’ve found tons of stamping and card websites. It’s been eye-candy for me!

As I perused the sites a found a fantastic cause for moms and their kids. It’s called Cards for a Cause and I plan to donate some cards! All the cards go to patients at St. Judes Hospital. You can read all about it at A Muse News If you don’t know how to make a card, choose one of their kits that gives you supplies for 10 cards. There are links on the same page.

Well, I just had to pass this great idea along to all of you.

One of our FamilyEbiz students, Sue Riek, passed away last week. Sue was also one of my eBay students who shared the tip of using folded foam board as a backdrop. Needless to say, we were shocked to hear of Sue’s passing. Our oldest daughter didn’t believe us because she just spent the weekend with Sue at a conference in Las Vegas.

The following verses remind me of Sue. For those of you who don’t know, Sue lived in constant pain. The reason you might not know of her pain is she never complained about it. Sue was a light to the world and lived out these verses.

Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain. Philippians 2:14-16

We are grateful to have known Sue for a short time and see that she did not live or labor in vain. She was a shining light to those around her!

Today was our fabulous first day of school. I’ll post pics in a second.

We discussed what I expected of the kids and what they wanted to study. This week they “get” to pick what they want to read. Both of them chose one of their new books on their stack of goodies this morning. I bought 4 sports books for them. So, Gentry is reading a biography about Joe Torre, manager of New York Yankees. She already told me I would like it because there are lots of lessons about leaders. Just the fact that she related the book to me is a step in thinking for herself.

Hunter is reading The Rookie. Have you seen the movie? Well, we own it along with many other sports movies. I also gave him a biography of Cal Ripken and he told me he wanted to finish his bio of Coach K that he started this summer.

We’re almost finished with Robinson Crusoe. I hope to post my thought about the book and how to read it from a Biblical worldview later this week.

Better go finish dinner. We have our first girls Bible study tonight for my daughters and their friends. I am looking forward to my first formal study with the girls.
