Hunter’s interception against Waco

Hunter with his 2 biggest fans πŸ™‚

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

Do you know what “nonage” means? I learned this morning because I signed up for daily words at I thought one word a day might help my vocabulary.

Nonage means a time of youth or immaturity. Thomas Paine uses it here:

It occasionally puts children over men, and the conceits of nonage over wisdom and experience.
— Thomas Paine, The Rights of Man

This reminded me of the way our society views youth. Youth is elevated above anything else, especially wisdom and experience. When raising a true leader, they will seek wisdom and experience and not rely on their nonage.

We’re Headed to Texas

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

Steve and I are sitting on the back deck enjoying the cool crisp morning. Actually, I’m wearing a sweatshirt because it’s fairly cold this morning.

As I type this post, Chipman United Moving is loading the truck with all our belongings. On Wednesday & Thursday, a crew packed our entire house into boxes…pretty amazing since we have a 4 bedroom, 2 office home. But they finished it by 3 pm on the second day.

Our kids flew home this morning. Grandpa will pick them up at the airport and take them home. Steve & I are driving the car (& dog) down to Texas. What’s wrong with this picture???

We are sooo excited to move back home. The only thing I’ll really miss is the cool weather for my morning walks. Other than that, I’m ready for Texas.

Incredible Deals…through Monday, June 30

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Well, you haven’t heard from me because I’ve been in Texas getting our house ready to move back…yea!!! I didn’t realize how tiring painting could be. I sanded, primed and painted our living room and Hunter’s bedroom. Going up & down that ladder to paint the crown molding is a great workout for my legs :-)

I also worked on our hall and made lots of trips to Lowes and the local paint store.
You can see a few pics on the next posts.

So why am I writing if we are in the midst of moving from Idaho to Texas?
We need to clear out our inventory and reduce the weight we pay United Moving. So we are offering what’s left of our inventory at incredible prices. You won’t see the prices again.

through Monday, June 30

This doesn’t mean we won’t be selling these ever again. I’ll be stocking up as soon as we get to Texas, but the prices will go back to normal at that time.

Oh yeah, I’ll be ordering lots of new products at that time.

Move on over to my blog and grab some copies for your kids today! They’ll love you for it!

If an item doesn’t work in the shopping cart, it is no longer available!

Have a great week.

The movers come next week to pack and load the truck. Then, Steve & I are off to Cody, Wyoming for a day as we drive our dog from Idaho to Texas. Our kids are flying home. Huh…I wonder who got the short end of that stick. I’ll post pics of Cody after July 4. Steve can’t wait to see Cody and the Buffalo Bill Center.

ps. This is your last chance to get some great prices since we are moving and need to reduce the weight (and final dollar figure) on our moving expense.

Help me out by grabbing some cheap books that haven’t been on sale before.

A Little Birdie Told Me

Monday, June 16th, 2008

I spent this past weekend at my parents’ farm. Outside the kitchen were some cute little birds that flew away on Saturday. Here are pics before they flew the nest.

Remodeling our Texas Home

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

I’ve been in Texas for about a month as we remodel our home. We have a painter that is tremendous…Todd Chapman. But we have more work to do than we have time, so I’m painting too. Todd finished our dining room. I don’t have the original picture, but here are some in-process and the finished room.

Sitting in Spring

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

What a lovely weekend.Β  Yesterday I got a sunburn from watching my daughter’s softball games from 2pm to 6pm.Β  Today I’m soaking in the sunshine from my front porch.Β  Finally, spring weather in the northwest.

Still Snow

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

We still have snow outside. It’s so interesting because some yards have melted, but ours continues to be white. When I went for a walk, I noticed some yards still had a foot of snow on either side of their sidewalk. The year of never-ending snow.

Support our Wounded Troops

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

I’ve been watching tv for about an hour each afternoon while I stretch my back. I usually watch a cooking show and today it was Emeril Live.

Emeril’s entire show was a support to the US troops. He had a cooking contest with the military. The marine that won talked about a cookbook that had his steak recipe. All proceeds from A Salute to Steak go to the care of wounded marines. So far they have raised over $400,000 with their goal being $500,000.

I immediately googled wounded warrior center recipe book to find that cookbook. (I couldn’t remember the exact name) I ordered a copy and I encourage you to order a copy, too! I don’t promote charities much on this blog, but this is a way to help take care of men & women who are serving us around the country…without charging taxes. That’s my way of paying the bills.

Go get your copy right now at Command of the Grill: A Salute to Steak and know the profits go to helping wounded soldiers.

ps. If you think $10 is expensive for this recipe book, consider it a donation to a great cause.

pps. Let your kids pitch in for a family copy and you are modeling “charity” for them.

ppps. The steak recipe Emeril cooked on his show looked delicious. I plan to cook it once I get my cookbook.

Happy Birthday Gentry

Our middle daughter turns 18 today! Last night we ate dinner at the local French restaurant, ,West of Paris! Bon apetit!

Today is full of celebrations with family and friends.
