    I sat down to invite you to hear my story and I’m not sure where to start my invite. So many ideas going through my head. Let’s face it. Life can be difficult. For me, my life rocked along okay most of the time. Sure, we had ups and downs. Some of our downs were not easy. But overall, life was good. Good marriage. Good family. Good kids. Good friends.     I’m trying to trust God I’m trying to obey God I guess what’s not working is the “I’m” trying. I can’t do this God. People say we choose, we decide.     Praying for Prodigals

    I’ve been journaling the past couple years … thoughts, emotions, lessons God is teaching me. I’ve wanted to share some of the lessons God is teaching me, but have not taken the time to type them.     Air Trip to Big Island

    This morning we took a small engine airplane touring Maui & the Big Island.  What an adventure.  I’m not really into heights…or bumpy airplane rides.  And they put me in the co-pilot seat.  At first, I was unsure as we flew over the water, but I quickly got used to it.  We saw waterfalls that we never would have seen in a car.  They flowed down the sides of the sea cliffs.  The Hana Highway was wonderful, too. It took 10 minutes to fly from Maui to the Big Island, a distance of 28 miles at the closest points between the 2 islands.  More waterfalls, sugar/pineapple farms, rainforests.  Hilo is…

    Lahaina Art Galleries

    Before dinner, we strolled down Lahaina’s Front Street to see the art galleries and shop.  Friday night is Art Night, so some of the galleries serve snacks and wine.  We were impressed by the fact that several artists have their main gallery on Front Street.  One gallery in particular had many originals.  We saw originals of Durer’s Ascension, Taking Down the Cross and 2 others.  They were small, either pen & ink or woodcuts, about 5 x 7.  They also had an original self-portrait of Rembrandt and a much larger Rembrandt of Christ coming down from the cross.  The gallery boasted many originals from Picasso, Dali, Chagall and even Red…

    Warren & Annabelle’s

    We’ve heard all about Warren & Annabelle’s so we decided to take in their show.  We’re not really into magic, but the reviews are outstanding. When you first get there, you spend time in the Parlor, enjoying appetizers, drinks & Annabelle’s piano playing.  Annabelle is a “ghost” that plays the piano.  There’s a long story about her missing husband and her playing the piano to comfort herself.  The pupus (appetizers) are delicious – crab, shrimp, chicken, pork.  We each got to choose a dessert.  Mine was Raspberry White Chocolate cheesecake…yummy.  Steve got Pots De Creme and Ashley, of course, choose Creme Brulee.     Snorkeling

    We had a lazy morning today…sleeping in which we desperately needed.  We decided to snorkel in Honolua Bay.  We felt like we were swimming in an aquarium – yellow, purple, red, blue fish.  Coral growing on the rocks.  Oh yeah, a blue tuna being chased by a young woman.  Steve told me he saw a blue tuna being chased by a girl and 5 minutes later I saw the tuna…being chased by the young woman. Then, we headed down the road to see the Blowhole.  It’s a place in the rocks that shoots water up to 70 feet.  It reminded me of  a small Old Faithful in the sea, only…

    Haleakala Sunrise & Bike Trip

    We made it to the other side of Maui by 3am for our bike trip.  Our driver told us about the area as he drove us in the dark up the mountain.  Once we arrived, we realized everyone was right that it is freezing on top the crater.  We had layers of clothes, as well as blankets from our condo.  As we sat in the dark, we wondered if this was worth the early morning wake-up call.  We also wondered what was in front of us, near the crater.  The stars were awesome…all over the sky.     Hawaii, Here We Come

    Today, we left for Ashley’s college graduation trip to Hawaii.  It took awhile to get here because we drove from College Station to Houston, flew from Houston to Honolulu, flew from Honolulu to Maui, drove to Kapalua Villas.  Yea…we made it! Our condo overlooks the fairview and the ocean…stunning sunset! We enjoyed a quiet & relaxing dinner at Pineapple Grill.  I had the lobster bisque…yummy!  Better get to bed because we have to wake up at 1:45am for our Sunrise Bike Trip
